Friday Faves – foodiecrush

Hello and hey hey to Friday!

This week on Instagram, I saw many odes to the fall feels of October. Sweater weather, squash recipes, leaf-peeping, and Meg Ryan rom-coms are just a few autumnal favorites so many of us are craving now. I’m happily on board. That’s why I had to stop and take a gander at my favorite local farm’s pumpkin-filled barn. Yes, I left with pumpkins plus butternut and spaghetti squash in tow. Now it’s time to get cooking!

I also stopped in at Home Depot and Christmas is already on display! WHYYY?! Even Mariah says it’s too early to start ringing the sleigh bells.

Time just keeps flying by faster and faster (no thanks to retailers like the aforementioned). Might be a good idea to heed some of these tips for how to slow down during life’s busy seasons.

The devastation caused by the recent hurricane hitting North Carolina, Tennessee, and other areas typically unaffected by this type of weather event proves climate change is real and could be here to stay. How to help victims of Hurricane Helene.

For restaurant owners, climate change means even more disruptions. A very timely read in the wake of Helene.

The earth now has 2 moons (!) and here’s how to see them.

Watching SNL has been a part of my weekend routine since I was a teenager. That’s why I can remember a whole lot of these 50 best SNL sketches. Amazing how they stand the test of time.

I’ve been a fan of Barefoot Contessa’s cooking show forever. Her approachable recipes (like this one) always deliver and I can count on my DVR’d recordings of her buttery voice lulling me to sleep when I lie awake late at night. Putting me to sleep may not be your typical endorsement, but it is what it is! This week, Ina Garten’s memoir is officially out and I am really looking forward to reading it. I also loved this conversation with her.

When we bought our cabin we inherited an apple tree but I never knew how to tell when the fruit was ready. This brown stem rule for picking apples will help.

I am so ready to cure my pumpkin roll craving (that cream cheese filling!) plus make a batch of pumpkin bread so this list of the best brands of canned pumpkin is good to know.

And, the best pumpkin cinnamon rolls you’ll ever eat.

4 more dreamy words: Pumpkin. Oatmeal. Cream. Pies.

As mentioned many, many times before, I’m all about Med-inspired flavors and this yummy Mediterranean vegetarian dish is one I’d like to try.

My husband and I are back on our “soup for dinner” kick and I am totally ready to get back to this one and this one for our meal-in-a-bowl dinners.

And, this creamy number looks divine.

These crispy green beans look bangin’.

An apple cider spritz to greet the weekend with.

This type of weather always gets me in the baking mood. Cozy is as cozy does and this brown sugar maple cake screams “cozy.”

OMG these sticky Korean chicken bites have me licking my fingers.

I’ve been working on a new basic salsa recipe (coming soon) and I’m thinking it would be ridiculously good drizzled on these chicken tacos.

Recipes that venture out of the norm are so much fun to make. Bookmarking this cheesy lasagna dip for the next time I have people over.

Speaking of, the holidays are approaching and parties will be filling up the calendar. And I don’t like to show up empty-handed. A simple hostess gift like these dishtowels or a nice bottle of flavored olive oil is always appreciated (and doesn’t have to be chilled like wine or put in water like flowers.) For more, check out this list of what to bring to a dinner party.

This new Halloween collection at Target is killer. I especially like these glasses.

Love this jacket that would be so cute with these sneakers.

Last year, my daughter’s roommate had this hair dryer and Smudge loved it so much she just bought one of her own. So if you’re in the market, there’s your stamp of approval.

I haven’t done much traveling this year and would really like to squeeze a trip in before the holidays. But where to go? Apparently, the most sought-after travel guide is a Google doc.

I am so influenced by the scents around me. Am I an aromachologist? Maybe! What scents do you like? (Here for the comments!).

I just discovered this tinted lip balm and it is divine. It’s super moisturizing, comes in lots of pretty shades, and is on sale right now.

Gardening doesn’t end when the temps go down. It’s time to get started! 5 perennials to plant this fall.

That’s a wrap for this week. Have a fantastically delicious weekend and enjoy FALLLLL!
