Hey hey and happy Friday.
How can it possibly be Halloween already? Not having a little around the house anymore has turned me into the Grouchy Great Pumpkin. I have more Halloween decorations than Christmas and with Christmas being my favorite holiday, that says a whole lot. But now that Smudge has flown the coop and the little kids quit walking up our steep-ass street, I lost my creepy enthusiasm to put out all the haunted trimmings. However, I did not lose my enthusiasm for making one of my husband’s (and mine) favorite hallowed-ween dinners shown above. So cozy, so good. More salsa please!
This weekend there will be lots of Halloween parties and some of you may still be pulling a costume together. Here are some of the best celebrity Halloween costumes ever. Heidi Klum wins every year. However, I still have PTSD from her worm costume.
Okay, but this is one of the best Halloween costumes I have seen (and such an amazing DIY!). Very fun and now I’m hungry.
My new favorite app: With so many streaming services I never know where I can watch what I want to see. Download this app, enter the title of what you want to see, and it will tell you where. Finally, a digital TV Guide!
I am one of those people who adopts the term “perfectionist” as my defense mechanism when I feel I’m not “good enough” for the task at hand. It’s just one positive trait mentioned here that can secretly be anxiety in disguise.
There are many valid points in this post—a good reminder to be open to different ways of relating to one another.
I learned Catherine Newman (the author of this fantastic novel I recently read) has a substack. I subscribed and I’m really enjoying what she has to say.
These protein pancakes (from her newsletter) made with one of my favorite ingredients look amazing.
The weeknight-friendly noodle stir-fry that I’m currently craving.
A beautiful use for fall squash.
And, a reminder to make this recipe the next time you spot acorn squash at the store.
I’m so ready for comforting, vegetarian stews with loads of flavor built in. This one with chickpeas is the essence of pungent texture I cannot wait to try.
Just like pulling out my cozy sweaters, making a pot of my favorite beans is what I crave as soon as the season turns. Next up? This bean and greens recipe has it in for me.
I’ve had a thing for chili crunch (this one is my favorite) so of course it could very possibly sneak it’s way into turkey day. Presenting Thanksgiving chili crunch, y’all. OMG.
Comfort food on steroids you’ll want to run to make.
If you’re a cabbage lover like me, then this yummy recipe will def float your boat.
My pumpkin rigatoni is something to behold. That’s why this creamy pumpkin tortellini has me showing up with arms flung wide.
Who doesn’t want to celebrate all hallows eve with a scary hook? A spooky pasta for Halloween (if you dare).
Wet those hands and get ready to roll because these meatballs look like another fall banger to me.
I stopped by the restaurant supply store where these paring knives were sitting at the checkout counter. The clerk said they are an absolute chef’s favorite and after seeing that price tag I couldn’t afford not to get it. I love it and use it all of the time.
Love the Mad Men vibes of this cool MCM house.
These X-Mas ornaments are so rad.
The best skin tools, according to Vogue beauty editors.
The prettiest, creamiest cream blush (love this shade for fall and winter).
The comfiest oversized sweatshirt.
I’ve been having a bit of wanderlust of late, maybe I’m watching too much TV and movies, and that makes this list of 21 hotels from famous movies that you can actually stay in, totally on my list—so dreamy.
A beginner’s guide to using sound frequencies for better sleep. What color noise do you like?
And, this might be the dream supplement combo for a better night’s sleep. (But don’t look at your phone before bed!)
Awe can do wonders for your well-being if you know where to look. I love this so much, it reminds me of how I always try to look for glimmers throughout the day.
And that’s it for this week! Enjoy the weekend and cook something good!
